Morten Riis has resigned as CEO of IRD A/S, after having led the company for three years.
Morten Riis says:
“The shift towards a more commercial setup has been an exciting process, especially as fuel cell technology addresses one of the most fundamental problems facing our society today, namely the climate challenge and future energy supply.”
Jørgen Lundsgaard, founder, shareholder, member of the Board and CTO at IRD A/S, says:
“Morten has done an outstanding job at IRD over the past three years, ensuring that we are now in an extremely favorable position to make our technology a commercial success.”
IRD is one of the global market leaders within the field of fuel cell technology, and, throughout the past three years, the company has taken giant steps towards a growing market for new, environmentally-friendly energy technology.
In 2007, an issue of shares provided the company with new capital amounting to DKK 75 million, which has been the foundation for massive investments in areas such as product development and the development and installation of nanotech production equipment.
Morten Riis will be leaving IRD at the end of November and until a suitable replacement is found, Jørgen Lundsgaard will act as CEO.
IRD was head sponsor of Fuel Cells Science & Technology 2008 and participated with the newest products within both PEM and DMFC technology.
The queen and prince of Denmark visited ”Brintsamfund Lolland”, where they inspected IRD's combined heat and power system in a private household.

Dr. Jørgen S. Lundsgaard represents IRD in the European Industry Group for Fuel Cells & Hydrogen JTI (NEW-IG)
NEW-IG is the private industrial partner of the European Commission for the proposed Joint Technology Initiative for fuel cell and hydrogen.
The Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) is the new way of realising strong, long-term public-private partnerships for Europe. The JTI will accelerate the development and deployment of cost-competitive, world-class European hydrogen and fuel cell based energy systems and component technologies for applications in transport, stationary and portable power.
The establishment of NEW-IG is the key result of four years of work by the European Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform (HFP), an initiative of the European Commission, which brought together stakeholders from across the European fuel cell and hydrogen industry.
