IRD founder, J. S. Lundsgaard has taken the initiative to form a new Science Park in the hometown of IRD, Svendborg.
At the harbour front, the construction of the new R&D facilities is finished.
IRD has the benefit of the new R&D center, where opportunities in related technology is possible to grow. Besides that, the further expansion of the company is possible in the new surroundings.

The Technical University of Denmark team won the Urban Concept class for four-wheeled, upright vehicles with an energy consumption equivalent to 810 km/l of petrol, surpassing their record from last year (671 km/l).

March, 2006:
Together with seven other Danish companies, IRD is participating in a national demonstration project on fuel cell based Combined Heat and Power installation (CHP) for households.
The aim is to demonstrate the efficiency and environmental friendly aspects of fuel cell based heat and power. And at the same time gain experience.
The initiative to the project was taken by the industry group, Danfoss. Besides Danfoss and IRD, the participants are Cowi, DONG, Dantherm, PowerLynx and Topsoe Fuel Cells.

IRD and the Municipality of Nakskov establishes a full scale Danish Community Testing Facility (CTF).The Danish Community Testing Facility will among other things comprise the use and development of:
Electrolysers in Hydrogen Production from surplus Wind Power Resources.
Hydrogen Micro Grid and Hydrogen Storage (Low Pressure Concept).
Fuel Cell Based Combined Heat & Power Generation (micro CHP).
Creating Synergies with Existing Energy & Environmental Technology.
The project period is two years starting April 2006. The project is partly funded by the Danish Energy Authority.

| Engineering to secure FC system integration. | |
February, 2006:
IRD, the Danish fuel cell manufacturer, expands its engineering staff and capabilities.
The expansion is based on the increasing need for securing efficient system integration. By this, IRD is able to service its partners and customers even better.
The newly formed engineering unit comprises six employees with electronical as well as mechanical engineering capabilities.

IRD will have the benefit of the new R&D center, where opportunities in related technology is possible to grow. Besides that, the further expansion of the company is possible in the new surroundings.
