IRD A/S is an independent high technology company devoted to research, development and production of Fuel Cell components, Fuel Cells and Fuel Cell systems.
IRD operates internationally through its own organization, daughter companies, associates, licensees and co-operating associates in the industry and scientific community. IRD participates in international networks and projects focusing on all aspects of Fuel Cells.
IRD cooperates with international research groups, strategic partners and customers.
The aim of IRD A/S is to transform ideas into commercial Fuel Cell products through Innovation, Research and Development. The business strategy of IRD is to develop and produce new Fuel Cell products in co-operation with international research groups, strategic partners and customers, and to manufacture such products cost effectively using new technologies.
IRD has at its research facilities established strong groups in electrochemistry and material science, polymer and ceramic process technology, electronic and mechanical engineering and software. IRD maintains a strong patent and documentation department to establish and protect intellectual property and support customers and products.
IRD Fuel Cell Technology A/S was founded in 1995 through a buy out of Innovision R&D A/S from the Innovision Group. The buyout was headed by Dr. J.S. Lundsgaard who has been co-founder of Innovision A/S and a range of new high-tech companies. Dr. J.S. Lundsgaard now acts as CEO of IRD.
Recently IRD A/S has acquired a MEA manufacturing line from Cabot Corporation. The MEA manufacturing line is situated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and will remain in this location, being handled by the newly founded IRD affiliate, IRD Fuel Cells, LLC.
